American and World Politics Humor - 6 Nov 2010

Check out the political shellacking my Democrats took this week from the American voters.

From Denny: America's cartoonists have this succinct way of capturing the national conversation, condensed and crystallized into images. Every week I go looking to see what their "hot buttons" are especially in the fields of politics and government.

This week was a troubled one for both political parties. The Democrats were trounced at the polls with their own Democrats turning traitor and voting for the worse Republicans. The Independents abandoned the President and, the two combined, gave this White House a "shellacking" in Obama's own terms.

The Republicans are under the mistaken impression they have a mandate. No, they don't. What they do have is their marching orders to start getting things done for the people. If they don't they will be turned out yet again.

What I found disturbing this week, while watching the news, is the terrified look on the faces of the Republican House leaders. Clearly, they were shaken. Looks like the Wall Street, Big Bank, Big Money, Big Business guys called them up and said, "Look, we have invested billions of dollars in Republican campaigns and attack ads. We now expect you to destroy what's left of Obama and get government restraint taken off us." And the Republicans suddenly realized they can no longer bluff and bullshit their way through this now. They must deliver. They also know they will not be able to deliver. The Republicans sold their souls to Satan and now Satan has come to collect their souls.

If the Democrats have an ounce of sense - and, at this point in the game I've begun to wonder if they do any smarts after two years of stupid is as stupid does - they will re-elect Nancy Pelosi as she is a premium fighter. Every Democrat must fight these Big Business interests of which the Republicans do their bidding. If the Democrats and the voters do not fight these Big Money interests what's left of the economy will surely implode. Who wants to end up like the old Soviet Union: in tatters economically for decades and then run by gangs? We in America are well on our way to descending down to that level of devastation if the Democrats don't "grow a pair" - along with a steel spine - and fight this coming catastrophic event.

Check out this week's political "shellacking" thanks to the political lunacy and poor leadership of Axelrod. Kick this guy out the White House. Hell, kick this guy out of the Democratic Party.

Presidential Historian Michael Beschloss Talks About Midterm Shellacking

Check out the interesting stories from history of how other Presidents responded when handed their heads by the voters in a midterm election.

From Denny:  The now infamous positive and inspiring Obama slogan of "Yes, We Can!" from campaign 2008 has eroded into a sloppy "Maybe We Can't" after two years of failed governing.

Jon Stewart had an interesting guy on his show for this election week. Presidential historian Michael Beschloss talked about the Midterm Shellacking Experience received by many presidents. He told the tale of President Harry Truman when he got his clock cleaned after his first two years in office. After all, the Republicans were working overtime to reverse FDR's New Deal and huge heroic image with the public by attacking Truman, FDR's former VP.

25 Funny Signs: Rally To Restore Sanity And Or Fear

Check out some good political humor from the funny activists who attended the rally.

From Denny:  What started as just a funny segment on The Daily Show grew into an actual rally that drew over 214,000 people. Glenn Beck's Fox News conservative August rally where he tried to compare himself to Jesus Christ and Martin Luther King only drew 85,000. The good news? Strong minds outnumber weak minds at political rallies in America. Well, that's one to celebrate.

There are a gazillion photos circulating the web from this funny rally that comedians Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert put together on the fly when they realized people really did want to attend an actual rally in Washington.

Women, And Their Civil Rights, Abused By Tea Party Activists

A conservative Tea Party Rand Paul supporter attacks a MoveOn protester by stomping on her head. What the Democratic Party needs to do to get back the female vote.

From Denny: Ever since I saw this video clip of a MoveOn.org liberal activist getting stomped by a bunch of men at a conservative Kentucky political rally, well, that image has stuck in the back of my mind. This 115-pound small women gets hurled to the ground and stomped on by five men twice her size and weight.

American Midterms and World Politics Cartoons - 30 Oct 2010

Negative campaign ads were never so much fun to lampoon as cartoonists are enjoying this political season.

From Denny: The midterm election season as been as bizarre - and as entertaining at times - as Halloween! The worst and the nastiest negative campaign ads come from the Republican side of the aisle. The Democrats have dished out some of the negative spice of their own as well.

Jon Stewart Interviews Obama Economic Advisor

Check out the latest from the Obama economic advisor about the state of the American economy.

From Denny: One of the Obama economic advisors is Austan Goolsbee. Jon Stewart interviewed him recently about what exactly is going on in the economy and how The Obama Economic Team is grappling to get its hands on this runaway monster. They recognize the difficulties in getting down the unemployment rate. One of the ways in which they are taking measures to do so is by funneling credit to small businesses so they can hire. After all, it's the small businesses who are the heroes of the economy. Small businesses hire 80 percent of the workers in America.

Americans Lose Jobs Twice As Fast As Immigrants Gain Jobs

In the  2009 jobs report, immigrants gained 656,000 jobs while native-born Americans lost 1.2 million.

From Denny:  A new disturbing report about jobs gained among immigrants (legal and illegal) vs. severely lost among native-born Americans is about to be released from the U.S. Census Bureau and Department of Labor data by the Pew Hispanic Center. What it proves is that immigrants are gaining jobs twice as fast as native-born are losing them.

Why Women Are Not Inspired to Vote Right Now

Find out what is bothering women voters about this midterm election season.

From Denny: Why is it in poll after poll do the pollsters find themselves puzzled as to why women are just not enthusiastic this year for the midterm voting - especially Democrats and Independents?

Like any situation there are varied reasons for the female voting malaise:

* Women view political race after political race still offering no practical solutions for the issues of the country.

* Women struggle working more hours in a down economy, hoping to afford rising health care, raising families, and are caretakers of aging parents.

American and World Economy Cartoons - 24 Oct 2010

Check out the national mind and opinions of our economy through the eyes of cartoonists.

From Denny: Our politicians continue to campaign for their jobs while they refuse to guard ours going out of the country still at a rapid rate. This month GM announced they were hiring an additional 5,000 new workers. Yeah? Not in America. And we taxpayers still own controlling interest in this annoying car manufacturer. They have the nerve to stiff the American worker with the bill and no job to help pay for it.

American Political Season - 23 Oct 2010

This sure is a mean - and more competitive than usual - political season.

From Denny: This is a midterm election season and it is in full swing like a Presidential election. This year is when the controlling political party gets to redistrict the nation to give one party or another more seats and deprive their competition of enough to drive them into minority status. Meanwhile, it's the voters who suffer from these greedy selfish practices. The Republicans are the most notorious in breaking up Democratic strongholds they could never gain control of to get a seat in the House or the Senate unless they did gerrymander the voting district.

This year, because of the Supreme Court ruling, there are now anonymous donors throwing $20 million checks at the Republicans - and some Democrats - to buy back Congress. It's shameful how the Republicans have sold out this county. No other country in the world allows foreign companies or countries to lobby their political members - let allow buy them for hire.

Friday Lite: Funny Elvira Spoofs I Am Not A Witch Ad

Where Halloween humor meets political humor in America.

From Denny:  Just in time for the funny Halloween season! We have a maybe former or maybe now witch running for the Vice President's former Senate seat in Delaware. Can American politics get any stranger? Christine O'Donnell is the current darling of the boistrous Tea Party.

CNN Interviews Outted American Spy Valerie Plame About Traitors

Check out this explosive interview about the truth of the outting of one of Americas successful spies tracking down rogue nukes in the world.

From Denny: The movie about this odious incident is coming out now and is well represented as to the truth of what happened. Here Plame and her husband discuss all the garbage that Bush, Cheney and Rove threw at them. Rove was angry that Wilson, a former ambassador, refused to lie for them about nukes in Iraq.

Roundup of Late Nite Jokes and Videos - 18 Oct 2010

Check out this week's late night jokes, latest cartoons, funniest video clips from Stephen Colbert and Jon Stewart.

From Denny: Do these guys get any funnier? Well, our politics of late have gone from sad to funny to bizarre to laugh out loud funny - giving the late night comedians plenty of joke material.

Who knew a witch would run for the Senate? Who knew loud hypocritcal Tea Party wingnuts could get any traction with voters? The mainstream political parties of the Republicans and the Democrats had better get off the corporate milk nipples and start taking care of the people. Get down to really governing instead of worrying about staying in office for your own welfare.

Popular President Clinton On The Economy, Mid-Term Election, Wedding

America's most popular ex-President talks about how to get the economy jumpstarted and the serious erosion of the middle class if the election is turned over to the Republicans.

From Denny:  Former President Bill Clinton keeps rising in popularity as President Obama descends that ladder. America is restless. Since Obama was elected the middle class has grown increasingly disappointed we are left out in the cold - again - by the Democratic Party that used to support the middle class against Big Business eroding our wealth, our stability, our hopes for the future.  The people ARE the economy and when the people have lost confidence the economy slides down into despair.

1 Billion Worldwide Watch 33 Chilean Miners Rescued From Abyss

Check out the jubilant celebrations as the miners are rescued today.

From Denny:  Talk about an ordeal, a spiritual experience, for the miners, for the millions following and praying about their story. It's been two months since these 33 miners in Chile were found to be alive and Herculean rescue efforts began in earnest.  Since last night and all day today more people have watched the live coverage of this never before attempted rescue from so deep underground in a collapsed mine than any other news story ever.

Everyone is fascinated by these miners, mostly by their incredible - and uncanny - positive attitudes through it all. In the early days the leader of the group was faced with doling out only two days of rations to 33 men - and it had to last 17 days. It was then they got a message up above and the world discovered they still lived.
