Beautiful Illustrated Quotations: 3 Joy Quotes: How Does Practicing JOY Bring Order and Harmony Into Your Life? Also, Joy Contagious Lip-Syncing Cop Viral Video

From Denny:  Now if everyone in politics and every CEO in Big Business would read this, think how much people would quit hating their jobs, their bosses and their politicians!

Beautiful Illustrated Quotations: 3 Joy Quotes: How Does Practicing JOY Bring Order and Harmony Into Your Life? Also, Joy Contagious Lip-Syncing Cop Viral Video: From Denny:  Have you ever noticed that when you are filled with Joy that your whole world is suddenly harmonious and everything just falls into place?  Joy is contagious too.  When you feel good, everyone around you feels good too!

While not everyone is called to enter into the decades long rigorous training to become a mystic for the benefit of humanity, a lot can be learned and practiced in everyday life to better enjoy life's journey.  Practicing Joy is practicing healthy spirituality, regardless of religion or no specific religious preferences at all.

Joy is a central principle for the human spirit.  Joy sustains us through life's sorrows   and disappointments.  Joy acts as a counter balance while climbing out of depression or grief, dealing with past trauma and the ensuing PTSD, keeping us from sinking down further into negative emotions and thoughts.  Joy is important to safeguard not just our mental, emotional and spiritual health but it has a direct positive benefit upon our physical health too.

Adults often develop habits that steer away from Joy.  Babies laugh hundreds of times a day.  How much have you laughed out loud today?  How much have you laughed in the past month?  Do you find your world crumbling around you, feeling out of sorts and grumpy, thinking limiting thoughts, focused upon how little is going your way? ... read more

A Truth Journal: Check Out Colbert Report Features Indie Band Lake Street Dive: 3 videos - and interview with band members.

From Denny:
While Al-Qaeda whines about how other terrorist groups [in addition to them] are fighting each other in Syria and behaving badly, the Colbert Bump is in full swing back here in America.

Oh, come on, Sec. of State Kerry and President Obama, just sit back and wait for all those terrorists coalescing in Syria to thrash it out until there are fewer groups.  Then you send in the drones.  Let these guys do your work for you.

Look at it this way:  Stupid is as stupid does.  Terrorist groups continue to mass in Syria.  Well, we sure know where to find them.  It will be like shooting fish in a barrel.  At least the IC should be tagging and identifying these now easy to find terrorists.

Meanwhile, rather than write yet another political post and yell at the TV news tonight, our house switched over to Colbert Report and found this awesome indie music group.  These folks will definitely benefit from the Colbert Bump.  But, you know what, they have game - and lots of it.

Funny Jon Stewart: Obama Fail On Chinese Dissident

Jon Stewart
Jon Stewart (Image via RottenTomatoes.com)
From Denny:  Jon Stewart watched with horror, like the rest of us, when President Obama dumped one desperate Chinese dissident, Chen Guangcheng, in favor of "diplomatic relations" with communist China.  So much for America standing up for human rights and the little guy.

Could this international incident be more telling about the "real" Obama instead of the marketed hyped one?  Obama made America look dickhead bad to the international community.  "Oh, thank you, for egg on face."

Fast forward the blow back from the human rights community when Obama practically gave this dissident the bum's rush out of the embassy, eager to end the international tension with America's debt bankers.  Check out the blow back from the opportunistic Romney Republican political machine desperate to regain the White House this election year.  That got Obama's attention.

This kid might grow up to be either a dance choreographer or a music critic. Either way he is so entertaining that this funny video will deliver you a laugh of the day. Enjoy!"

Fathers Day Posts: Quotes, Photos, Humor, Music. Poetry

happy fathers day

Happy Father's Day! photo by jwlphotography @ flickr, All Rights Reserved with embed code available

From Denny:  Enjoy some funny quotes from fathers about being a father. Get inspired from some inspirational quotes about fathers and from fathers.

Enjoy two musicians - Keith Urban and Abel Ullon - and what they have to say about what it is like being a father and observing their own fathers as parents.

Most of all, enjoy some wonderful photography from a variety of amateurs and professionals, revealing fathers in their most intimate moments with their children. Taking a snooze, playing sand castle on the beach, riding on daddy's shoulder, hanging out with pregnant mom, daddy gazing into the eyes of  his newborn, daddy cookies baked just for him, playing "kids in the bucket," learning to play music, and getting kisses from his little girls on his special day to be honored - at least once a year! :)

Dennys Art Sanctuary: Fathers Day Music: Keith Urban Sings Song For Dad: "From Denny: Keith Urban offers up his observations on fatherhood and how he has become much like his own father. Dennys: News Politics Comedy Science Arts & Food: Posts Roundup at Dennys Blogs - 17 April 2011: "While the Japanese nuclear crisis continues unabated, the rest of the world has moved on, dreading the inevitable. At the moment the world community has pressured Japan to come up with a plan to contain or deal with the crisis over a nine month period.

Why the same people are in charge of this mess that created the mess is a mystery. It's as foolish as it was to trust BP to clean up the oil spill disaster in my own Gulf of Mexico. Serious hardships still exist as a result of President Obama and BP refusing to do what it takes to make things right, especially in Louisiana.

At the very least the President could do is refuse to allow BP access to any of America's oil fields on or off shore. The company has simply not earned the right to drill for oil on American soil or in our oceans."

Check out news analysis, political humor, funny quotes, funny videos, cartoons, recipes, science news, music and poetry.

From Denny: This is about three week's worth of posts. Be sure to check out this post over at the science blog, The Soul Calendar, for the rare 500 year total lunar eclipse coinciding with the Winter Solstice tonight.  I like to write my science with a bit of wit.  It's so much easier to absorb facts when the writing is funny.

Also, lots of funny videos, comedy, jokes from the late night comedians lampooning the news and our crazy Congress. Their idea of "logic" is questionable sometimes. :)

For the Christmas and holiday season there are plenty of music videos to soothe the stress after rushing around shopping and visiting.

I've also started developing the arts blog, Dennys Art Sanctuary. It has been languishing far too long. The plan is to feature various artists along with the arts news.

What's also new is that I've started gathering all my poetry onto one blog, Poems From A Spiritual Heart. There are even poems there that have not posted on The Social Poets first.

So, take a look around, decompress, and enjoy yourself! Thank You for all your support this year. It's been a delight to write for you! What a wild ride! :)

17 Christmas Music and Fun Videos

Enjoy some popular and traditional sacred music for the Christmas season, along with some funny holiday flash mob videos.

From Denny: A person could spend a lifetime sifting through all the offerings over at YouTube and be happy. What fun to explore, looking for interesting Christmas music to fit a wide variety of reader interests.

Here are the offerings I've gleaned for this year. The first song, YouTube sudden viral hit, is from a newcomer, Becky Kelley, whose father wrote the song after Becky related a conversation from her nephew while they were standing in line to see Santa at the mall.  It's their first published song, a real shock to the music industry who came asking for more of their work.  I guess they had better get busy. :)

And now you have plenty here to help you stress down from  the holiday rush, make you laugh, and even get you pumped back up feeling inspired.

From Denny:  The adventure of blogging began two years ago and I've never looked back. Talk about fun! Christmas will always remain my favorite time of the year. Yes, I'm one of those people who holds in their heart the mantra of "I Believe!" Santa represents the goodwill spirit that humanity needs to cultivate and spread in abundance from generation to generation.  Goodwill is the fuel we all need on the Path of Hope as each generation struggles to learn and grow.

These posts represent two year's worth of posts. If I keep at it, just think, in a couple of more years I might make it to 100 Christmas posts! :) Take a look and take your pick to nourish your Christmas Spirit and help soothe your stress that always seems to visit during the holiday season.

Music Video: Thats What Love is About, Band from Utah

From Denny: Friend Mystic Dave - all the way across the country out in Utah - filmed a favorite band singing a really mellow song to end your day on a good note - That's What Love is About. For more of his music and video choices, go here.

Awww Video: Go, Baby, Go! Baby Dancing with Beyonce

From Denny: This baby is too cute! He's just dancing away in sync with Beyonce. As a musician you know your music is good when little kids love it. It's the best compliment! He keeps trying to perform the dance moves but his muscles aren't quite developed yet to do what he wants. At the rate this kid is teaching himself he will probably be an excellent dancer by the time he is only five years old. This video will get you grinning! He reminds us to keep the joy in our lives.

Political Cartoons for week of 11 September 2009

From Denny: Oh, boy, it's Saturday, my favorite day of the week because of cartoons! :) There are some wild ones for this week too. People are fussing about health care from all different directions.

More weird news is the news that there are actually parents in this nation who think it's horrible the President gave a speech to their children but thought nothing of listening to the Bush propaganda speeches that lied on a regular basis. That was fine to fill their children's minds with lies, deception and zero morals. Makes me wonder how many of that crowd have membership in the KKK and other white supremacist groups...

What did Obama talk about? Being responsible, stay in school, be good to your parents and other standard bearers of morality. Wow, since when did kindness, decency and personal responsibility become a negative and so controversial? Sounds like former President Bill Clinton is right: "Today the Republicans are in La-La Land!" Or, as comedian Bill Maher said, "The Democrats have moved to the right of left and the Republicans have moved into the mental hospital."

While it looks like the cartoonist was trying to depict President Obama as a liar and master of distortion, you could see this image from another angle: his face has been stepped on so many times by the herd of Republican hooves that his face is bent out of shape, something I'm sure they delight in taking recognition for "achieving." Such is the way of the mean-spirited and bullies.

For those outside America, this South Carolina representative from the House, Joe Wilson, decided it was cool to heckle the President as he was addressing Congress on national TV and called him a liar. His own Republican leadership jumped down his throat and demanded he apologize for such bad form. Now he's claiming he apologized yet is backing off on his apology and now raising money from other like-minded racist bullies across the country.

The good news is that his Democratic challenger raised MORE money off of his stupid act. Wilson looks weak going into the election.

Moving right along to those Americans who feel threatened by the promotion of good character and moral values in our children:

Bush 41 did it to Clinton and left Clinton with a war in Somalia to bog down his new administration. Now Bush 43 and Cheney have done the same to Obama. Hmmmm.... does anyone see the obvious connection? Republicans start intractable wars and Democrats have to finish them.

Then the Republicans get to brand the Democrats as cowards and quitters all the while at the same time complaining about deficit spending. What a bunch of hypocrites! Anyone with a brain knows that war always consumes a large portion of the country's budget and is a constant cash flow drain.

The question is: How long before the people who vote for lies finally catch on they have been lied to and quit going to war on the drop of one insult? Six years of war is long enough. If you can't get the job done, then it's time to leave that country to their own cultural mess. If the country does little or nothing other than take your money and allow your soldiers to get killed instead of their own, then we don't need to be "there," whatever country or war it is.

About Afghanistan, a war that increasingly Americans have had enough and want to pull out:

And for the 9/11 anniversary:

On a much lighter note, commenting on the new resurgence of popularity of The Beatles music, 40 years later for a new generation. In the 1970's it was quite controversial about playing music backwards as many moralists decided it was "Satanic" among other things because they believed there were subliminal messages recorded under the music:

And it was considered so "not cool" for John Lennon to try and bring in Yoko Ono, the then girl friend, as part of The Beatles to sing with them. Apparently, the fans were not amused nor receptive to her for some reason: maybe she couldn't sing on key?

Well, "that's all, folks" for the American culture "review" in cartoons this week! :) Have a great weekend!

Libations Friday! 4 September 2009

Featured today is a photo-rich new poem: Soul Journey and, of course, a cute coffee cartoon that seemed to be a good fit when talking about the magical in life! :)

From Denny: For the past year or so my poems have been evolving into photo-rich ones. I tend to settle on a theme and then go searching through flickr for some wonderful photographers to promote. Two of my favorites as "go to guys" for anything mystical for spiritual inspiration and thought-provoking are alicepopkorn and h.koppdelaney, both from Germany.

They generously offer much of their excellent work in the Creative Commons area, with only the stipulation of attribution and a link back to their flickr page. When you place photos from this area of flickr be sure to read all the stipulations as many times the photographers don't want commercial publications to profit from their work. Otherwise, you are free to display their work like on StumbleUpon blogs!

************

It took a life time of study and experience to write this poem! If I were to leave this life today I would be happy this one poem could be my legacy...

Soul Journey

Sometimes we banish our best friend
When our awareness is young but
Our soul returns again and again
Offering daily help and new insight

Sometimes we deny our soul
Withering into the cold slowly
Our soul waits and pines to
Be free of its confining prison

Sometimes we loose our soul
When we choose to love another
Our soul rejoices to live abundantly
Offering kindness to spread around

Sometimes events sadly happen
When love goes wrong and ends
Our soul weeps to be joined again
Giving us strength to begin anew

Sometimes we are perplexed by life’s absurdity
The love heart confounds us, shattering fantasies
Our soul plunges the dark abyss of emotions to
Lift us back to safe ground and new understanding

Sometimes we revel in the wonderment
Transfixed by the starring moment
Our soul celebrates our latest discovery
Guarding carefully our dreaming time

Sometimes we are in tune with Nature
Inhabiting that perfect place of serenity
Our soul sighs in the beauty of resting union
Observing us present in Time with eternity

Sometimes we are out of tune with everything
Insisting upon our own pleasure and willful way
Our soul extends us a loving patient hand
Guiding us at a slower pace until we peacefully agree

Sometimes we rise up on new inspirations
Secure in the larger awareness of soul
Our soul gently cradles our expanding minds
Waiting, assisting in our next evolving step

Sometimes we suddenly conceive what is beyond us
Yearning to reach new dimensions undiscovered
Our soul cheers our efforts no matter how small
Protecting our new knowledge now conscious

Sometimes when reaching high too fast
Frightened of intense emotions flood rising
Our soul descends to cover with darkness
Quieting our fears, steadying us once more

Sometimes as we learn our inner depths
Struggling against all odds for illumination
Our soul warms us with healing inner fire
Powering us mightily for the Transition

Sometimes there are spiritual leaps forward
Forcefully exploding within and without
Our soul glimmers with rising anticipation
Savoring soon our completed inner union

Sometimes we are stressed to nearly breaking
Agonizing over the temporary and unimportant
Our soul braves the chaos of inner darkness to
Pull us back from the brink of wrong surrender

Sometimes we live as if disappearing invisible
Wandering and stumbling in the shifting fog
Our soul calls us, encouraging return to Hope
Singing soothing words on our long journey

Sometimes we turn inward ferociously
Blocking a world too much coming our way
Our soul cocoons us ever silent and vigilant
Rocking us sweetly on the churning stormy waters

Sometimes our ego performs painfully under many masks
Role playing for decades, often an entire life time
Our soul suffocates, groaning under heavy pretense
Stripping down unworthy deception and hiding lies

Sometimes we reach so high we forget how greedy
Grasping is not the same as eagerly reaching
Our soul steers us once more toward respect
Standing still with layering Time to greet us

Sometimes we arrive triumphant at our destination
Harmonized with Eternity’s shimmering playground
Our soul relaxes and melts into simple ecstasy
Knowing we will now turn back for others
