Dennys Funny Quotes: Fav Funny Ad: GEICO Night Vision Goggle Antelopes

Thumbnail

Dennys Funny Quotes: Fav Funny Ad: GEICO Night Vision Goggle Antelopes: From Denny:  GEICO car insurance has the best ad guys.  This one is of two well-armed antelopes using their night vision goggles to spot Carl the Lion sneaking up on them.  They taunt and mock Carl as so not cool and suggest he go vegan.  See what Carl does...

If you live in America you've probably seen this ad.  But if you are an expat or live in Canada or Europe this is a great way to catch up on the latest funnies in the culture.  Big Hello! to military all over the world.  Enjoy!

Dennys World of Quotes: 73 Funny Halloween Quotes and Famous Poems

Dennys World of Quotes: 73 Funny Halloween Quotes and Famous Poems: From Denny:  Everyone have a fun Halloween night!  Attended our local symphony this week (awesome performance of complex Russian music) and didn't you know there was a middle-aged woman with the fun Halloween spirit.  (The kids in attendance sure enjoyed it.) She did her makeup like a zombie and quickly woke up the old guys snoring in the back row.  There is nothing more enjoyable than the unexpected just when you thought something would be oh, too predictable. :)

Cyber Attack Over, Going to Own Domain Soon

Alternative Energy Cat Yard Sign

Alternative Energy Cat goes green as she saves on gas by riding her broomstick

Go to the newer version of this blog:  A Truth Journal

From Denny:  Looks like Blogger is back to normal.  However, it takes them far too long to get the site back up and running - over a week this time.  Have started the process to get my own domain.  I'm fed up with four years of this nonsense.  If I had the time I'd web host from my own house but since I don't it's past due time to start looking for a more responsible web host that is also reliable.  Any suggestions out there?

During the cyber attack I was not able to post from The Social Poets blog but could from several others that are lower trafficked.  This blog was constantly getting redirected to several sites.  Apologies to all of you who may have encountered this.

I had the same problem whether I landed on the page or was in the dashboard area.  That was just too creepy.  So, I started yet another blog, A Truth Journal, to contain all the political, opinion and political humor posts, four years of archives from here as well as new posts.  The poetry and writing posts are already moved to the poetry blog here.

Consider it a serious spring cleaning for a four year old blog and time to polish it up for a more professional look.  Yeah, it was a mess. :)  After all, The Social Poets was the flagship blog of which all the humor, science, food, politics, news, health, arts blogs blasted out.  It's been my blogger learning curve blog.

So, if you get email for this blog, please reset here for A Truth Journal feed.

Thanks for showing up for all the posts, from the funny to the serious.  It's been great fun to write for your enjoyment.  You didn't really think a few annoying cyber terrorists and a lackluster YouTube-Blogger tech support could shut me down, now did you?  Yeah, that's right.  Power on!

Most Popular Posts 2010 at The Soul Calendar

Check out the popular science stories this year that fascinated us like the volcanic explosions and earthquakes.

From Denny:  Thanks for all your support this year! What a year of massive planet wide geologic changes: polar glacial ice caps melting rapidly, high scale earthquakes in Haiti, Chile and around the world, volcanoes spewing lava high into the air in Iceland and Indonesia - stopping air travel. It's been a humbling year for the human race on planet Earth. Floods, blizzards, mudslides, oceans rising, the Earth is changing and we are here to witness it.

Just this December we got to see the first lunar eclipse on a Winter Solstice, the first in almost 500 years.  The next one is scheduled for 2094.  Here in my region of the world we experienced the British Petroleum Oil Spill Disaster.  As usual Big Business and the governments like America and Britain have shafted the locals who have gone bankrupt, personal and business.  The millions of barrels of oil still lurks on the bottom of the Gulf of Mexico and continues to wash ashore.  There are now light orange alligators found off the coast of Florida.

Here in Louisiana BP's oil spill devastated our fishing industry, killing the oyster beds and safe fishing grounds for everything from shrimp and spillway crawfish to salt water fish.  The fishing industry has declined by 70 percent with no help from BP or our federal government.  Big Business is just plain greedy and refuses to take care of the planet and future generations.

Out of this oil spill disaster has come some interesting ideas of how to clean up future oil spills.  More ideas abound for new types of alternative fuels using the ocean to help produce it.  Humanity can be innovative and creative if we just curb our greed to use our resources faster than we can replace them.

Take a look around.  There are plenty of humor posts too and lots of technology cartoons for a grin.

Check out news analysis, political humor, funny quotes, funny videos, cartoons, recipes, science news, music and poetry.

From Denny: This is about three week's worth of posts. Be sure to check out this post over at the science blog, The Soul Calendar, for the rare 500 year total lunar eclipse coinciding with the Winter Solstice tonight.  I like to write my science with a bit of wit.  It's so much easier to absorb facts when the writing is funny.

Also, lots of funny videos, comedy, jokes from the late night comedians lampooning the news and our crazy Congress. Their idea of "logic" is questionable sometimes. :)

For the Christmas and holiday season there are plenty of music videos to soothe the stress after rushing around shopping and visiting.

I've also started developing the arts blog, Dennys Art Sanctuary. It has been languishing far too long. The plan is to feature various artists along with the arts news.

What's also new is that I've started gathering all my poetry onto one blog, Poems From A Spiritual Heart. There are even poems there that have not posted on The Social Poets first.

So, take a look around, decompress, and enjoy yourself! Thank You for all your support this year. It's been a delight to write for you! What a wild ride! :)

Weekly Posts Roundup at Dennys Blogs - 28 Mar 2010

From Denny: This funny polar bear says it all: Whew! Time to take it easy after a long harsh winter!

If you are a blogger like me with the Blogger platform at blogspot.com, and you haven't already heard about it since it came out a couple of weeks ago, you might want to check out this new feature from Blogger: Blogger in Draft. I spent the entire weekend playing around with the possibilities and decided to change over to this new dashboard and template offerings.

Blogger has come out with some outstanding new templates and the ability to widen margins of all your columns to imitate the old stretch template or create your own ideas of what appeals to you. Be as creative as you like! Read that as embedding videos and cartoons will now work better. Before, if you had a background from somewhere else - like I was doing - you had to reduce the width of your template down to the Minima template offered by Blogger. Then you could not run the cartoons at all as they were chopped off on the right side.

You now have many choices of how to arrange your columns just like a newspaper. There is a good variety of stunning backgrounds from which to choose - and believe me I've been choosing all this weekend for 12 blogs! :) I would like to see them expand their background choices in various colors and genre but what they have offered so far is plenty for most bloggers.

What am I still looking for from Blogger? To the folks at Blogger: I'm looking for more seasonal choices that have a sophisticated look, peaceful or spiritual, as opposed to just fun or downright cheesy. Backgrounds tailored to writing, poetry, art and literature other than the standard stack of books would be great - like beautiful calligraphy pens and parchment papers, stylized handwriting or fonts offered on the background and for the blog. You might want to consider backgrounds of America's cities like New Orleans and others for those of us with regional food blogs.

I'd also like to see the ability to post headlines and 200 word summary excerpts of up to 10 posts per page so people could easily choose what they want to read much like Wordpress already offers. Scrolling at the top of the page or at the header of the most recent posts would be cool like you see at newspaper sites online. Dreamer, that's me! So far, Blogger is on a roll so keep up the good work, guys! Oh, and if you could ever get that Google Connect or Followers Gadget to work with Google AdSense ads on the same page it would be much appreciated too.

On to the posts of the week and a few extra recipe posts from the past two weeks in case you missed anything good! :) Finally got caught up over at my science blog this weekend with some interesting stories so be sure to check out their offerings. Please bookmark this post to catch up on all the interesting news, great recipes and beautiful photography in our world! :) Enjoy...

Popular Posts 2009 and Thank You: The Social Poets

From Denny: It's been quite a wild ride this past year! Thanks for coming along and keeping me company while I journeyed through the blogosphere.

I really had no clue as to where I was going with this blog and the spin-off blogs but I jumped in feet first anyway, never much worrying about what others thought. How else are you going to learn about something unless you are willing to go on the journey of discovery and sometimes look lame hanging out on a limb?

When the world economy took a turn for the worst I threw out my original scenario for this blog to include teachings on writing and poetry as I discovered there were already plenty of sites doing that. When I witnessed on the news, and first hand, just how much so many people were suffering, I chose to respond with adding a lot more humor to all my blogs, even developing two other humor blogs. I've always found humor as a great stress reliever and, sometimes, you actually learn something new in the process - like those addicting cheeky quotes.

Looking back upon the year I remember when I was thrilled to get 25 people visiting my blogs in a month! :) Now? At this point, once I figured out the only way people would find me is to place all my significant blog posts into various search engines and on a few social sites. Now there are over 4,000 or more a week visiting and growing! I had no idea the internet was such a fun playground...

There are a lot of international readers besides my fellow Americans. There are our Canadian and Mexican cousins next door and British cousins in the UK across, what the Atlantic Ocean is affectionately known as, The Pond. Hello out there to everyone visiting from Serbia and Montenegro, the Ukraine, Indonesia, Romania, Turkey, Pakistan, Greece, India, New Zealand, Australia, Saudi Arabia, Kenya, China, Japan, South Africa, Chile, Argentina, Brazil, Portugal, Italy, France and Spain! Thanks for visiting!

At best I had hoped for 10 popular posts you enjoyed through the year. To my amazement there's a huge list of favorites you threw up on social sites like facebook, digg, stumbleupon and emailed to your friends and family. The stats sites I use to help me determine how well a post does, also does not give me the "who," so let me say thank you to those of you (though you are anonymous) who have supported this blog and me in this way: huge THANK YOOOOU!!!! Maybe I should take up yodelling? :)

This year has been a lot of fun as I've tried to figure out what you enjoy reading and find amusing for a chuckle. If there is something you would like to see featured more often on The Social Poets, shoot me an email! Denny Lyon: warriorspearl@gmail.com. Always glad to hear from you!

I'll keep adding links to this post through the rest of the year and link this post on the sidebar so you can easily reference it. Now the blog should load faster too without so many links on the sidebar, a win-win! :)

One more thing: all these fun holiday animations and clip art are FREE to download for use on your blog. I'll go hunt down that bookmark to let you know exactly where I found these...
