A Truth Journal: More WTF? More Cool From Team Obama Giving Up Salary Money in Show of Sequestration Layoff Solidarity?

A Truth Journal: More WTF? More Cool From Team Obama Giving Up Salary Money in Show of Sequestration Layoff Solidarity?: From Denny:   America, forget about political optics, sliding our way this entire past week was more cool  from the Obama White House channel.

Yes, it's true.  There actually are federal officials giving away their money back to taxpayers.  Happily blame Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel and his Deputy Defense Secretary Ashton Carter for starting this trend when they jumped up and volunteered to put some skin in the sequestration game.
(See this post for details.)

"Yes, don't ask of your country what they can do for your wallet but rather volunteer some of your paycheck back to your country's wallet" may be the new political trend?  One thing is for sure, these Democrats  definitely make the Republicans look like the usual stingy political losers flying their freak flags on the national political highway.

A Truth Journal: Cool WTF? Government Officials Are Voluntarily Giving Up Salaries Back to Taxpayers?

A Truth Journal: Cool WTF? Government Officials Are Voluntarily Giving Up Salaries Back to Taxpayers?: From Denny:  Just when we are all so furiously angered at the selfishness of our government officials for the usual screw-ups, pure laziness and lack of will to make positive corrections, there happens to be two of them that rose above and beyond the call of duty.  Yes, there are two federal officials that have landed in the Admiration Corner today.  These two men are class acts.

Turns out the sequestration mess caused high levels of Pentagon civilian employee furloughs - to the tune of 750,000 people.  The plan was to lay off these unhappy folks for 22 days but that has been cut back to 14 days.  Still, it isn't easy to lose one of your paychecks - even though it's spread out over many months through September.

Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel announced that huge block of civilian furloughs will save $2.5 billion for the Pentagon budget.  The sequestration across-the-board budget cuts went into effect on 1 March which amounts to $41 billion.  This $2.5 billion employee furlough will be tacked to that reduction.

Funny Video: Truth Is Bush Tax Cuts Are 30 Percent Of Our Deficit

*** Stewart mocks the usual GOP hypocrisy claiming the Bush Tax Cuts lower the deficit when actually they increase the deficit.

From Denny: Oh, the tangled web the Republicans weave. They keep pushing those renewed Bush tax cuts - all of it. Well, frankly, there are a few things in the tax cuts that were thrown in to appease the middle class like a $1,000 child tax credit and the like. When the Bush tax cuts expire that same child tax credit will drop down to $500 per child unless Congress does something about it.

There are other taxes that will skyrocket like capital gains and death taxes unless Congress does something about it to safeguard what's left of middle class wealth. Clearly, the top one percent of the country does not need such great tax cuts anyway. They aren't in home foreclosure to the growing tune of 20 million, or out of a job for two or more years to the tune of five million, with another 15 million out of work or trying to survive by living in their cars, paying rent in a church parking lot, out wandering the street - like in the tunnels under Las Vegas or in a tent city.

There are too many middle-aged baby boomers who have literally lost everything that they worked for and saved. They won't live long enough to completely rebuild their lifestyles to previous levels nor will they now be able to consider retirement. Congress did a number on working Americans by refusing to safeguard pension plans from corporate raiders the past 25 years since the Republicans took over Congress, squeezing every last dime out of taxpayers.

The huge shame of the Republicans has been their well touted Bush Tax Cuts that have sent middle class wealth to the richest Americans who still are so greedy they want more. The Republicans complain about the deficit yet it is their very Bush Tax Cuts Plan that has added 30 percent to the deficit in the first place - $300 billion. Want to reduce our deficit? Then let the Bush Tax Cuts expire.

America needs a vastly different tax plan anyway. As it stands no politician is willing to rein in Big Business nor force them to pay up. Well, at least the government has begun to chase down the tax cheats hiding their money in Swiss banks. That's a great start. Meanwhile, back at home, we need to take away tax incentives to Big Businesses that send American jobs overseas or import foreign workers to take American jobs.

Jon Stewart called out the Republicans on their stupid plan and constant political drumbeat to convince weak-minded Americans of their usual lies. Better yet, he showed clip after funny clip of contradictory statements by the Republicans about the deficit and taxes. Amazed at how two opposing ideas can exist on the same party platform, Stewart: "How exactly can you be for deficit reduction and extending tax cuts?" and then aired a clip where Sarah Palin argues for both in the same sentence.

Yet another bizarre confusing argument from LaLa Political Land is where the conservatives claim "The money the government earns in taxes isn't the same as the money they spend, so the tax cuts will not affect the deficit." These guys have been in Washington far too long for their own good. Throw the bums out. Of course, Stewart replies with a Goodfellas funny clip of the "F you - pay me" scenario. Because, as Stewart says, "The deficit doesn't care where the money comes from."

Yeah, and it's about time the wealthiest in America pay their fair share, the government collects from them what they owe, and the richest invest back into America with 22 million jobs to rev up the economic engine.

26 Funny Editorial Cartoons - 6 Feb 2010

From Denny: The big Super Bowl weekend match up of the New Orleans Saints against the Indianapolis Colts is in full swing party wise in both cities! The cartoonists predicted the Saints would lose against the Vikings in the NFL Championship and were wrong. Everyone in Louisiana is totally convinced the cartoonists are wrong again about the Saints' hope of winning the Super Bowl. People are practically "wired for sound" around here they are so excited about this team. The Saints had a 44 year drought of misery and to see them win this much is like catnip candy.

The rest of this week's visual opinions were devoted mainly to the President's budget spending and cutbacks, especially NASA. Where the cartoonists really went off on was their anger against Toyota's arrogance in this million plus car recall. Toyota has been declaring customer satisfaction for decades - only now America is finding out they have been hiding the truth about their cars.

Now we find out recently that Toyota hasn't been properly reporting to the U.S. Dept. of Transportation as required by law. Then they continue to insist these same dangerous cars are safe. Toyota car owners need to demand a buy back from the manufacturer as these cars are dangerous to everyone on the road driving near them. Short of that the President better do something serious and fast before this spirals out of control. Can you hear the Toyota used car value falling like a rock? Drive those cars until the wheels fall off or get the parent company to take it back. It's called The Lemon Laws in America.

Just when Toyota thought they would get to surge ahead in the American market to capture a larger share and capitalize on General Motors' and Ford's share of bad karma repercussion slap-back - they now experience their very butt kick.

Check out this week's cartoons lampooning everyone in the news!

Super Bowl - the Saints against the Colts in Miami:

Politics of the national budget wars and public frustration over both parties doing so little to alleviate suffering across America:

Finally repealing the Don't Ask Don't Tell mandate which never made much sense anyway since just about everyone but the clueless knew who was or wasn't gay:

Toyota recall debacle that just keeps on giving to the politicians, comedians and the cartoonists as fodder to keep the public stirred up:

Prez Obama cutting back and downsizing NASA since these guys tend to be wasteful and have been for 40 years, treating the national wallet like it's a money tree. Choose your projects wisely and plan a lot more carefully, then stick to it and quit with the budget overruns. Obama's next stop needs to be the guys who build military aircraft:
