Bill Clinton addresses the 2016 DNC

A Truth Journal: Full Transcript, Video: President Bill Clinton: 2016 Democrat Convention Speech: Let Me Tell You About The Real Hillary, Not the Cartoon Version the Republicans Sell:

From Denny:  Who knows you  - as the reality you - better than your spouse?  Well, former President Bill Clinton knocked it out of the park with his version of "the spouse speech" for a presidential candidate.

While some of the younger female commentators took the obtuse perspective and frowned upon Bill's speech as the only way to tell Hillary's story was to center it around Bill's life, most commentators understood what he was really doing with the chronicled narrative of Hillary's adult life once she and Bill met and joined forces to do good in the world.  In fact, Bill Clinton did a great job of doing the Hillary campaign's job for them:  opening a window into their private world to allow the public to know about the evolution of and entirety of Hillary...

Saturday Special: Comic Seth Meyers Analyzes GOP Convention As Intellectually Obscene Screw-Up?

From Denny:  Have you ever actually Googled the Donald Trump memes?  Unbelievable.  It's like visual diarrhea on steroids.  Same for Hillary Clinton memes.  The mocking community is in full overdrive for the 2016 election cycle on both sides of the political aisle.  As usual, it's more personal than substantive.  Forget about it there is anything useful for a voter to intelligently decide the best reasons of who should lead this country.

Watching some of the GOP convention is a lot like those memes on steroids:  nothing useful for the country, just a bunch of screaming and streaming garbage that has nothing to do with governing a first world country.

The Republicans just keep trotting out these intellectual obscenities one after the other.  Their mistake was that the comedy community was listening.  Check out what Seth Meyers had to report - very amusing:

Freaky Friday: Comic Jimmy Fallon Mocks Donald Trump GOP Convention Entrance

From Denny:  Donald Trump should have figured it out by now that the only guys who can out showbiz him are the comedians.  Jimmy Fallon never disappoints, irreverent as always and spot on accurate.

Just in case any of our fellow Americans living overseas missed this funny because you are living in a country of heavy censorship, I'm putting this one up for you.  (So far, none of my blogs have landed on a censorship list in some foreign country because I'm too small to notice. ) For all the rest of us, it's good to laugh yet again even if you have seen this clip a hundred times.  It just possesses that lasting quality.

Donald Trump really is just too full of himself.  It's like he has appointed himself dictator, but more on that later about what has been popping up in the news that could be prove quite chilling if he were actually elected and propelled into the White House.

Meanwhile, let's just get a well deserved laugh on Freaky Friday here because Donald Trump really does fly his Freak Flag a little too often.  But the Comedy Gods are keeping him somewhat humble.  Check out Jimmy Fallon's rendition.

And, at my more serious blog, A Truth Journal, check out the latest post about the bizarre doings at the 2016 Republican convention, sure to bring a chuckle as you realize the Republicans eat their own.

A Truth Journal: Election 2016 GOP Convention Disasters: Plagiarized Melania Speech, Rejecting Rule of Law. Trump Truly Not Ready To Be President?: From Denny:  Two major disasters for the Republican Party just on day one of their much touted Trump style showbiz convention.  First up?  The political party that lays claim to - and totally brain washes their followers into believing with such conviction - is that they are the party of "the rule of law."  Well, until that "rule of law" no longer serves their immediate political purposes and grab for power so they blow on past that "rule of law" like a winter north wind on a subzero cold day....

A Truth Journal: GOP and Rubio 2016: Women Should Suck It Up And Enjoy Results of Rape And Incest?

A Truth Journal: GOP and Rubio 2016: Women Should Suck It Up And Enjoy Results of Rape And Incest?: From Denny:  Does any one in this country actually promote or like abortion?  No.  Even as a liberal I agree with my Republican voting friends that abortion is disgusting and disrespectful of humanity.  But the way the Republican Party screams about the abortion issue does not solve the problem and has not solved the problem in over 40 years.  Obviously, the Republicans do not know how to lead the country - just stir up passions in cultural scream-offs just to win yet another election.  After the elections all the politicians sit on their hands doing nothing until the next election cycle of what will be broken promises.

Planned Parenthood has some serious problems with those insensitive doctors caught on video discussing the marketing of fetal body parts.  Of course, the calculating GOP strategists are promoting that video to rally the cause to defund Planned Parenthood - that also happens to do a lot of good for women's health issues in other areas like cancer testing.  Defunding Planned Parenthood is not the solution that will change the need for abortions.

The real questions every voter should be asking about that Planned Parenthood video is who the hell are these medical science creeps that are demanding said fetal parts be given for free or sold to them for their research and development of who knows what?  How pervvy can you get?  What exactly are they doing with that fetal tissue?  Why is there a "market" for fetal tissue, hearts and lungs in the first place?  Does this situation have anything to do with a severe shortage of donor organs in China with wealthy Chinese willing to pay any price to procure those organs?...

A Truth Journal: Why is Trump Catching on Fire? What Would His Cabinet Look Like? The Hilarious Lowdown

A Truth Journal: Why is Trump Catching on Fire? What Would His Cabinet Look Like? The Hilarious Lowdown: From Denny:  My fellow media are flabbergasted that billionaire Donald Trump is rising so fast in the Republican polls.  The media is so entrenched in their collective bias that they refuse to take his candidacy seriously.  Hold on to your hats, folks, because Trump will survive far beyond the summer flavor of the month.  Come on; we all know that former President Bill Clinton secretly got him to run as a way to help clean house on the Republican candidates, paving the way for Hillary to win.  Well, that strategy just might backfire since Trump is catching on with the disgruntled middle class.

Well, Trump may be stupidly wealthy but he still knows how to talk Middle Class in his brash Brooklyn accent.  In fact, Trump reminds me much of the very bold personality of President Teddy Roosevelt. And, he is every bit as passionate about his views, with plenty of real fire in the belly running for President that the American public likes in a presidential candidate.  We certainly are not seeing any of that fire in the belly with any other Republican candidates and only with one Democrat candidate, Bernie Sanders...

A Truth Journal: The How of World Hate: 9 Christians Killed For What in South Carolina?

A Truth Journal: The How of World Hate: 9 Christians Killed For What in South Carolina?: From Denny:  It really is past due time to get serious about dealing with the issue of World Hate.  Black people think it's "just" about historical racism aimed squarely at them.  Well, that's true - and it's also an ugly part of a much larger and more pervasive problem destroying humanity from within.

Hate is like an invasive weed that chokes out the sunlight and dries up all the nutrients and water that gives Life to the surrounding plants.  Think of this scenario in terms of a nation or a religion and the consequences are staggering...

A Truth Journal: VOTE! Political Fails, Missteps, Midterms, ISIS, NFL: Late Nite Jokes: From Denny:  Make sure you VOTE! to get your voice heard above the lying political campaign ads.  If we want to change out our politicians who refuse to attend to the needs of the American people and get this country going again, then VOTE! even if you did not intend to vote until 2016 for the presidential campaign.

Make sure you have a valid I.D. like a driver's license or other state issued I.D.  Republican legal teams will be out in full force nationally to challenge voters at the polls, intent upon throwing out millions of votes or preventing millions of voters from being able to exercise their right to vote at all.

Even here in Louisiana the Republican brand is so disliked by voters that the candidates refuse to acknowledge they are Republicans on all their yard signs and political literature.  The public may be almost as angry with the Democrats but less so than with the Republicans who are too lazy to work but 13 percent of the time in Congress.  Why are we paying these lazy fools $168,000 annually anyway?  Part time work should be rewarded with part time paychecks and no health care plans since they are temporary workers.  Works for me.

Meanwhile, enjoy the political jokes, poking our most greedy and clueless politicians.  Get out and VOTE! and create a tsunami to overwhelm Congress with how the middle class wants real change and real change now...

A Truth Journal: Where Is MIA Obama ISIS Strategy? How Do Misleading News Producers Impose Perceptions?

A masked Islamic State British militant holding a knife speaks next to man purported to be U.S. journalist James Foley at an unknown location /REUTERS

A Truth Journal:  Where Is MIA Obama ISIS Strategy? How Do Misleading News Producers Impose Perceptions?  From Denny:  You sure can tell this is the mean political season.  Republican strategists sure don't mind how reckless are their strategies if they can get in a barrage of attacks against President Obama and the Democrats just to score points with their rabid base.  Nothing infuriates me more than cavalier politics - no matter which political party, geared to win no matter the costs to someone else's family: especiallyhostages held and tortured by terrorist groups like ISIS.

The Republicans and the No Brain Media (think:  Fox News and mainstream media that report what Fox is saying not realizing how bad they look to the public) just don't stop and think about the consequences of their actions.  We can definitely blame a lot of what is going on in the mainstream media news shows on immature, cavalier, downright intellectually and emotionally tone deaf news producers who are clueless as to what the public wants to know and how to deliver it.  Real journalists should complain and start demanding better quality content...

A Truth Journal: 3rd Prez Debate, Jon Stewart Video: Choose Caretaker Big Biz Status Quo or Middle Class Destroyer?: From Denny:  This year voters don't see much choice to improve their lives for the next four year term.  President Obama subscribes to the philosophy of The Minimum Acceptable, a caretaker of the political status quo and hand-holding a petulant Big Business.

Gov. Romney is viewed as the guy who will finish off what's left of the middle class, taking away Social Security and getting rid of what affordable health care exists from Obama's minimal and very expensive legislation.  And, oh, yeah, Romney and his conservatives don't "believe" in the minimum wage; in fact, they want to completely abolish it.

Neither candidate is telling the voter what to expect the next four years on the economy, foreign policy, health care, equal pay in the private sector for women.  Romney thinks women live in binders like some abstract thought.  (That's the polite version.) Obama passed the Lilly Ledbetter Act to help women in the public sector but stopped short for helping women in the private sector.  It's that stopping short Obama is so famous for doing that ticks off the voters, especially the undecided.

A Truth Journal: Mocking The Romney Campaign: Late Nite Jokes, Funny Photos

A Truth Journal: Mocking The Romney Campaign: Late Nite Jokes, Funny Photos: From Denny:  Tomorrow night the big political match-up between the flip-flopping challenger Republican Mitt Romney and incumbent Democratic President Barack Obama will be nationally televised.  So far to date, Romney senior advisers have whined about the political polls incorrectly lean toward people identifying themselves as Democrats.

What's the matter?  Find your Republican base eroding?  Even here in former red state Louisiana droves of people no longer identify with the Republican Party and now list themselves as Independents.  If the Democrats actually got serious about making their case more Independents would sign on into the Democrat camp permanently.

More weird in this odd campaign, Romney sends out his wife to whine to the press about "how hard it is" to run for President.  Oh, please, watch the millionaire's wife bitch about working for a few short interview stints and campaign rallies.  How about all the people bitching as to why their pension funds are sitting in the Romney personal account because of his corporate raider ways?  Last time we all checked that's called "ill gotten gains."

Cheeky Quote Day! 2 September 2009

From Denny: This retro poster looks like it should be subtitled "The Bright Ideas Club"! Amazingly fun things you can find on StumbleUpon...

Today I thought I'd concentrate on the cheeky quotes from one author and who better to start on a roll with than someone from America's early entertainment history: Will Rogers.

Will Rogers was an American actor, 1879 - 1935, was part Cherokee Indian from his mother and his father was a former slaveholder and Confederate veteran. Rogers was a simple plain-spoken cowboy from Oklahoma who made America laugh in the 1920's and 1930's.

He would get on stage dressed as a cowboy and start doing rope tricks as he would tell a story or whip out a funny quote that set the audience into uproarious laughter in an instant. Rogers was known for his public image of wry, genial common sense and that's what made him so popular throughout America.

His roping skills were so good that he was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. What roping trick won him the prize? He threw three lassos all at once: one caught the neck of the running horse, another would hoop around the rider and the third one swooped up under the horse to loop all four legs. Pretty cool trick!

Because of these roping tricks he earned his way easily in Hollywood starting with a movie called "Ropin' Fool." He carried on his roping entertainment in Wild West shows, vaudeville stages too, where he evolved his act by telling small jokes. Eventually, people were more interested in his joke-telling than his incredible roping skills.

Though he was a high school dropout, something he greatly regretted, he decided to never stop learning in life. He talked to well-educated people often and read and studied on his own. Over time he wrote six books and published over two million words.

He was a big hit on Broadway and starred in 71 movies. He wrote more than 4,000 syndicated newspaper columns. Rogers was known for befriending Presidents, Senators and Kings. He traveled around the world three times as he was covering wars, learning as much as he could about everything in life and he talked a lot about peace.

His most famous quote: "I never met a person I didn't like." This was his credo of real love and respect for his fellow humanity and all people everywhere. Rogers was known for giving his own money to disaster victims and also raised thousands for the Red Cross and Salvation Army.

Rogers was a professional as he worked as a radio commentator, silent movie star and vaudeville headliner. His original take on life and observation of politics ended up syndicated in daily and weekly newspapers across the country, over 600 of them. He was so popular because his hilarious philosophies really did embody the humorous heart of the nation at that time.

Rogers was killed in a plane crash with his friend, Wiley Post, a daring one-eyed pilot also from Oklahoma, on a trip to Alaska. Rogers loved the thrill of flying as much as fast horses.

His amusing views on politics, government, education and life in general are as true today as they were in his time.

Quotes from humorist Will Rogers

* And the thing about my jokes is, they don't hurt anybody. You can take 'em or leave 'em - you can say they're funny or they're terrible or they're good, or whatever, but you can just pass 'em by. But with Congress, every time they make a joke, it's a law! And every time they make a law, it's a joke!

Politics and Government:

* A fool and his money are soon elected.

* A difference of opinion is what makes horse racing and missionaries.

* About all I can say for the United States Senate is that it opens with a prayer and closes with an investigation.

* Ancient Rome declined because it had a Senate, now what's going to happen to us with both a House and a Senate?

* Anything important is never left to the vote of the people. We only get to vote on some man; we never get to vote on what he is to do.

* Alexander Hamilton started the U.S. Treasury with nothing, and that was the closest our country has ever been to being even.

* An economist's guess is liable to be as good as anybody else's.

* Everything is changing. People are taking their comedians seriously and the politicians as a joke.

* I am not a member of any organized political party. I am a Democrat.

* Politics has become so expensive that it takes a lot of money even to be defeated.

* The 1928 Republican Convention opened with a prayer. If the Lord can see His way clear to bless the Republican Party the way it's been carrying on, then the rest of us ought to get it without even asking.

* If you ever injected truth into politics you have no politics.

* If I studied all my life, I couldn't think up half the number of funny things passed in one session of congress.

* Diplomacy is the art of saying "Nice doggie" until you can find a rock.

* I bet after seeing us, George Washington would sue us for calling him "father."

* This country has come to feel the same when Congress is in session as when the baby gets hold of a hammer.

* If you make any money, the government shoves you in the creek once a year with it in your pockets, and all that don't get wet you can keep.

* One-third of the people in the United States promote, while the other two-thirds provide.

* It's easy being a humorist when you've got the whole government working for you.

* I don't make jokes. I just watch the government and report the facts.

* The man with the best job in the country is the vice-president. All he has to do is get up every morning and say, "How is the president?"

* The more you observe politics, the more you've got to admit that each party is worse than the other.

Education:

* America is becoming so educated that ignorance will be a novelty. I will belong to the select few.

* Why don't they pass a constitutional amendment prohibiting anybody from learning anything? If it works as well as prohibition did, in five years Americans would be the smartest race of people on Earth.

Business:

* A holding company is a thing where you hand an accomplice the goods while the policeman searches you.

* If advertisers spent the same amount of money on improving their products as they do on advertising then they wouldn't have to advertise them.

Food:

* An onion can make people cry but there's never been a vegetable that can make people laugh.

Life:

* The fellow that can only see a week ahead is always the popular fellow, for he is looking with the crowd. But the one that can see years ahead, he has a telescope but he can't make anybody believe that he has it.

* The only way you can beat the lawyers is to die with nothing.

* Half our life is spent trying to find something to do with the time we have rushed through life trying to save.

* We can't all be heroes, because somebody has to sit on the curb and applaud when they go by.

* We are all here for a spell, get all the good laughs you can.

* Live your life so that whenever you lose, you're ahead.

* Live in such a way that you would not be ashamed to sell your parrot to the town gossip.

Video: Hurricane Katrina Super Volunteers 4 Years Later and How Bush Policies Have Jacked Up the Cost of Living There

From Denny:

Quality People Who Are REAL Christians

Hey! It's my birthday and I get to put up a story dear to my heart, all the class act volunteers who came into Louisiana and helped - and are still helping - rebuild people's lives. These folks are super heroes! They have given so much hope to thousands of people in emergency need who were so stressed out because they had meager or no resources to rebuild.

Most of all, these people like the ones profiled here, are REAL Christians. They are out there "in the highways and the byways" doing for others.

Pretend PHONY Christians

They aren't screaming about abortion and how a woman has no right to make her own moral decision. They aren't out there promoting character assassination because they can't get their own way and bully people into doing what they want. They aren't out there judging others because they don't go to the same church or believe in Jesus or whatever other hateful venom.

Latest Toxic Politics Courtesy of the Republicans

The latest so-called Christian vitriol is claiming President Obama is not a real American because they think his birth state of Hawaii is not really an American state. It just keeps getting meaner and meaner with the right wing's version of Christian politics. They also do not address him properly as The President. They have their little snide code words for him. Sure sounds like disrespect for the office, folks! You can't have it both ways: one minute demanding respect for a Republican President but you don't have to respect a Democratic President.

Call Goodness For What It Is and Quit Twisting the Truth

So, when I see quality people heralded as what they truly are, people of good character, then I like to promote them. Goodness no longer needs to be promoted as evil and evil as if it were good, something the Bible teaches by the way. That is some twisted thinking of our Republican politics in America for years now.

Republican Government Created Long-Term Harmful Effects After Hurricanes Katrina and Gustav

What a lot of the nation doesn't know, because it hasn't been the interest of the national media, is just how hard that storm hit the average person's wallet since the storm. Most Americans are frustrated and worried for the past year to eighteen months because of new expenses like fuel and food costs, watching their income ebb and flow because of it. Particular to Louisiana since 29 August 2005 is that the big business insurance companies have had a field day with us on jacking up our expenses beyond the ability to pay.

The argument is that you shouldn't live in such low-lying areas. True. Of course, you can kiss your oil to make the fuel for your car goodbye as the entire population moves away from the coasts. Kiss goodbye your natural gas to heat your homes, hot water and cook your food. Kiss goodbye your seafood too. Kiss goodbye your ports to move your goods across the country and overseas. That's the reality.

How It Developed into Such a Mess Because of Republican Policies

What's happened, because of Republican policies, is that the insurance companies were allowed carte blanche to do what they will. The result of Bush tax rebates has been that the state had to raise taxes, so did the local parishes (counties) and then the cities followed suit. Because of the Republicans yelling and screaming about how the Democrats would tax you, they ended up throwing the taxes to the local levels. Of course, not without a parting shot to the middle class across America. Under Bush, a Republican, I paid $7,000 more a year in federal taxes because of how he manipulated the tax code to force the middle class to give more again to replace what the wealthy were told they no longer had to give as their portion as being an American.

There went my savings account allocated for emergencies and retirement. What people who don't know that don't live in a hurricane zone (just like I don't know what it's like to live in an earthquake zone) is that it costs easily $500 to $2,000 dollars every time you evacuate for a hurricane or have to hunker down for 10 days by "sheltering in place" at home. Two or three hurricanes a year and you can see how families are devastated.

Insurance Companies Taken Off the Leash to Run Wild

Then the insurance companies went up on homeowners' and car insurances to the tune of the highest in the nation. Homeowners' insurance and new property taxes take up almost 40% of what was once my modest house note before Hurricane Katrina. Don't even get me started on the cumulative effects of Hurricane Gustav afterward... :)

Shed Your Expenses

Of course, when your expenses go up you start shedding anything you consider a luxury like a second car, vacations, dining out, hair and nail salons (do it yourself; it's easy), the car wash, lawn service, the dry cleaners and anything else you can do less of or do without entirely. Not really hard for us because I know how to do the same services. The ride was nice while it lasted not having to do everything all the time as eventually you get an inflamed shoulder nerve like I did from too much work.

Bush Rezones Flood Map for Democratic Voting Areas of Louisiana

Bush's parting shot at the Louisiana middle class was to pander to the insurance companies and redraw the flood map to now include people whose homes have NEVER flooded or come near to it in my area. What did that mean? Well, try to the tune of an additional $5,000 a year for mandated flood insurance from the mortgage company. Sure, we found cheaper.

We also should be carrying just a $1,000 deductible for homeowners' insurance. Because of the insurance lobbyists demanding everyone in state be mandated to carry homeowners' insurance whether you want it or not, we now get a really pretty choice: extremely high deductibles or normal deductibles with outrageous prices.

So, that translates as now a $17,000 deductible for homeowners' insurance instead of a $1,000. I'm lucky; most people I know in the same modest sized house are paying a $23,000 to $28,000 deductible. What this basically translates into is that you are self-insuring. Most hurricane damage does not cost this much so you will be out of pocket for it. All the while you are forced by the Republican policies to pay for insurance that will never cover a thing. Talk about a scam.

So, enough of the educational rant about how national politics really can impact our daily lives... it was meant as an illustration so the concrete thinkers out there can see how their bad decisions play out when they don't care about anything more than screaming their rhetoric. This is real life, folks!

Enjoy the Video About People Helping People Who Fall Through the Cracks

You will really enjoy this video. What I liked is hearing it from their own lips about what it is to trust God and go out and do what you know God is calling you to do. They put their money, their lives, their welfare, their everything on the line to start up a Disaster Recovery Service. They are entirely dependent upon donations. These are some incredibly cool people!

If you are able to contribute to this endeavor and give a donation to them that would be great. You never know when these people may come to your neighborhood and help you and yours in the future. They are such a class act!
