Jon Stewart Interview: Condoleeza Rice Admits Bush Knew No Iraq Nukes

An official portrait of Condoleezza Rice. Cont...                         Image via Wikipedia
From Denny:  Jon Stewart discusses the marketing of the fairy tale ex-Bush administration officials consistently try to sell about the lead up to the Iraq War since they left office.  Condi Rice is no exception.

In a carefully crafted narrative she declared the necessity of going to war in Iraq.  She cited how Saddam Hussein was "a bad man" and had 16 United Nations Security Council resolutions passed against his regime just for starters.

Rice quoted President Clinton as sending a few friendly cruise missiles Saddam's way to discourage his nuclear interests back in 1998.  Of course, at the time, Republicans - and later Bush - ridiculed this "small bore" effort of containing Saddam Hussein but now they praise it.

She also failed to mention how the outgoing Clinton administration gave her loads of intelligence, warning against the 9/11 attack.  At the time she foolishly blew that off as a fairy tale and did not act on the intelligence.  That true story was conspicuously missing from her interview and book.

Then she quoted the Bible of 9/11, according to Republicans, of how the world would fall apart if they did not break it and attack Iraq.  Some of their logic leaves a lot to be desired.  Since it's fear-based programming, a lot of it does not properly connect the dots to make their case.

Funny Jon Stewart Mocks Wall Street For Causing Greek Crisis

From Denny: Get your crash course in crooked banking Wall Street style from your favorite comedian. He does make learning fun. Why wasn't college this entertaining?

You have all heard about how Greece is melting down financially. Recently, the European Union put on hold their $billion bailout while they await Greece to sell off some of their assets. What took the Greeks so long to get around to the obvious? They should have sold their banks and state-owned companies years ago when they were first in trouble.

If you have ever visited Greece you soon learn they have one terrific lifestyle. It's not terribly responsible on the individual level any more than on the national level. They literally party every night, spending hundreds of dollars a night. They do not save money. They don't believe in savings accounts. Amazing.

Why don't they save for that proverbial rainy day? Because they have one helluva retirement system we all would envy and start rioting to get out of our government. Get this: the Greeks get to retire at only age 53. Better yet they get to retire at the very high level of 80 percent of their income.

Dennys Funny Quotes: Funny Jon Stewart Mocks Bin Laden Conspiracy Theory

Dennys Funny Quotes: Funny Jon Stewart Mocks Bin Laden Conspiracy Theory: "From Denny: The comedians have figured out how to help President Obama fix his relationship with Pakistan. The obvious cure? Admit that Osama Bin Laden really is not dead. Hey, that's a novel idea.

The best reason for saying Bin Laden is actually still alive is because it will help defense spending. 'Why risk bursting The Terror Bubble?' asks comedian John Hodgman. 'After all, it's our last bubble' and the economy might be in trouble if we take a baseball bat to it is the subtext.

Wondering how we could start such a Bin Laden rumor, Hodgman reminds us we are the country so capable we put a man on the moon. He says we are also the country that created rumors we did not put a man on the moon. Ain't America great?"

Jon Stewart Interviews Egypt Revolution Activist Gigi Ibrahim

From Denny: Stewart dishes out the political satire in a semi-serious interview aimed at exposing how for decades American policy has had little to do with the reality of every day Egyptians.

What is so funny about the experience of this young woman is how she became involved in the Egypt Revolution this past January in Tahrir Square.  She went to a class, "The Social Mobilization Under Authoritarian Regime," at the American University in Cairo.

It was there she learned from a prominent Middle Eastern blogger about the opposition movement that had been ongoing in her own country.  The opposition movement was so underground few people knew how to contact them.  She learned their history and what was happening recently and how to join the protests.
